IN CHARACTER
Name: Reinhardt Wilhelm
Canon: Overwatch
Canon Point: Post Dragon Slayer, his comic.
Age: 61

History: Wiki Link!

Personality:
Excited and outgoing, are very good words for him. The wiki describes him as "larger than life", and everything else agrees. He is for the most part in a jovial mood, with a fairly optimistic outlook and a wealth of confidence. Partly because he can be a little too imaginative -- like in his comic, where the enemy gang literally became dragons in his mind. He is outspoken, as well, be it for good or criticism. If he believes in something, he believes in it fully, 100%. This exuberence can sort of get him into trouble from time to time, as he will zealously defend not only morals, but really bad music he happens to love. The loud voice is a bit of a negative mark too. He has no inside voice.

Friends are very, very important to him. He is absolutely, unwaveringly loyal to his friends, and loves them dearly. It tore him up when he assumed one of his closest friends was dead, he was the one to give a eulogy at the funeral, and reacts poorly when one of his friends is killed in-game, yelling he will avenge them. Most of his battle cries consist of him assuring his comrades he will protect them, and his abilities match that. But he has a specific shout for when a close friend is killed, and it is one of vengeance.

It, therefore, can be fairly easily assumed that while he is very willing to take on the role of valiant protector, he can also become a terrifying assailant on behalf of "avenging" friends. Or the innocent, as seen in his comic, "Dragon Slayer" when he single-handedly went in after a hideout full of thugs. And likely killed them all without a second thought. They were the 'bad guys'. It really did not seem to faze him in the slightest -- he went off to complete business as usual, living in a very black and white world.

He is described as the Overwatch hero with the biggest heart because of all this, and because of various interactions with other members that are, for the most part, overwhelmingly positive. Unless you're Gabriel Reyes who is, in his loud opinion, an traitor. We don't see their interactions outside of the gameplay, but one of Reinhardt's special voice lines is reserved for Reyes ("Reaper") alone. And it's simply him shouting "Traitor!" Given Reyes' hand in the entire fall of Overwatch (which was a whole "cool motive, still murder" thing), it's understandable Reinhardt now considers his former comrade to be one of the 'bad guys'. This sort of lends to the idea that, likely, if his trust is betrayed, he will react with anger and hammer, holding onto that grudge. Since we have yet to see real talk between him and the only person with which he seems to hold such a grudge, we can only assume confrontation may be a violent one, if necessary.

He's basically the closest thing his universe has to a complete Lawful Good Paladin. He styles himself like a knight, and keeps the code of honor just like those old heroes. Protecting the innocent, upholding justice, goodness, and all that. And, just like those knights, he refuses to "rest" until everything is put to right. Until the battle is won and "good" has triumphed. He's given his entire life to fighting for what he believes in -- fighting for Overwatch and what it stood for. Since he's still alive, he believes he has to continue that fight. As long as he can lift his hammer, he will do his best to do justice in the world. Wherever he sees it needed in his world of black and white -- because that's how things are when you're a Hero.

Part of this also is a stubborn old man's refusal to recognize he is old and probably should retire by now. He's alive, he can move, so he might as well be of use. He is relentless in this, to the point of zealotry, always eager to get back into the fight, and prone to delusions of granduer on occasion when he's in the fight. It's a huge thrill, both protecting people and the actual act of fighting itself.

Contracts:
He will willingly sign on, because why not? It's a new adventure! And since Overwatch is basically no more, what better way to do something good than to help an entire ship full of people? He's always wanted to continue on traveling the world -- why not expand that to the stars? It sounds grand.

Abilities/Skills:
First off, this man is huge. He's 7 feet at least. To say he's built like a brick house does a disservice. He is just that huge. Suffice it to say going along with all that size is a fair amount of strength to match. The guy could probably bench press several normal-sized people even without the armor.

Which brings us to the Crusader armor. It probably adds a good few more inches or so to his height, and acts like some kind of power suit. It's metal and requires a lot of upkeep. It also enables him to prject a barrier field. According to the wiki: "Reinhardt projects a broad, forward-facing energy barrier, which can absorb substantial damage before it is destroyed. Although Reinhardt can protect himself and his companions behind the barrier, he cannot attack while sustaining it."

He's also usually equipped with a giant warhammer called the Rocket Hammer, which lives up to its name. It comes with a variety of neat abilities, but, for the most part, it's a big, heavy hammer in the hands of a huge, absurdly strong guy in a robot suit.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
STRENGTHS
+ ... strength, like, absurdly strong. Partly because this man is 7 feet tall.
+ Determination
+ Loves his friends so much.
+ Sturdy
+ he has such bad taste in music it's actually funny
+ the closest thing to an actual living D&D Lawful Good Paladin you can ask for

WEAKNESSES
+ ... determination.
+ given to flights of fancy and/or delusions of grandeur
+ he's in his 60's and probably more medicine than man
+ Charges in headfirst and then thinks later.
+ He's loud.

Items:
+ The Rocket Hammer
+ his Crusader armor, which basically makes him look like a robot. It's got mechanical properties, and apparently protects him and enhances his abilities.

SAMPLES

Hello my friends!

[That sure is a huge, booming voice echoing over the MID. A very cheerful one, at that. The face on the screen is grinning, too many teeth showing, one eye scarred.]

That is how this works, isn't it? It's like a phone. A very fancy phone. [Somehow that grin gets bigger.] I am Reinhardt Wilhelm. And new arrival on this ship.

If you have heard of me, hello! If not, ach, same to you as well. I am glad to be on this adventure, regardless of who is here.

Come! Introduce yourselves. Do not be shy.
